BRICK PROJECT
"Celebrating Our 10th Anniversary"
In early 2000, the Plantation Junior Woman's Club was looking for a suitable project to commemorate our 40th year of existence. On April 26th, 2000 at the City Council Meeting the Plantation Junior Woman's Club presented to the council members the idea of using interlocking brick pavers for walkways at Liberty Tree Park. The PJWC would sell engraved bricks and the money would go to different projects in the city. Needless to say, the idea was very well received and the "Brick Project" was born.
By the fall of that year, US Brick & Block Systems had finished installing the bricks in the new park and the walkways were ready for our annual Art in the Park event. In 2009, the park was renamed, Rae Carole Armstrong Liberty Tree Park and the park was expanded to include the property where the Elks Club used to be.
The park is truly a nice place to take your children to the playground, have lunch, feed the squirrels, or just take a walk.
This park has been a historical park for many years and holds a deep place in our hearts. If you have a story you would like to share with us please email Debbie.
